Update blew away user dict
Update blew away user dict
More than a little annoying!
And now...
it's back again. So, never mind, I guess. But something was definitely not right.
I believe you, but...
...for a while it at least wasn't reading it, and it happened just after I installed the upgrade.
No error messages.
But when I installed the new version I was given the option of restarting Atlantis. I did and my current document came up as usual. However, all the words I had previously added to my user dictionary were now flagged as misspelled in my document. I took a look at my user dictionary from within Atlantis (Options/Spellcheck...you know) and, sure enough, it was empty. I even started adding the words again. Later, I don't recall whether I had restarted the program, I found that it had restored my old user dictionary.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for details, Michael. All this is strange, especially if you say that your old dictionary was restored automatically. If you started adding the words again, and your newly composed user dictionary was automatically replaced by your old dictionary, I can only suggest two possible explanations: 1) there were multiple running copies of Atlantis at that moment (possibly you even have multiple copies of Atlantis at different locations of your hard disk), and 2) the dictionary file was temporarily locked by another application (editor?). Anyway it would be hard to find out the actual reason if you say that the problem has gone automatically.
It's a mystery...
and I really wasn't on the lookout for more details as it was happening. As a former programmer myself, I realize I haven't given you enough to approach the problem in any kind of systematic way. Anyway, for now, all's well.
