Hi Al,
I have Windows XP SP2 and MS Office 2007 SP2. I have no such problem running either MS Word or Atlantis.
Which version of Atlantis are you running (“Help | About…”)?
How exactly are you launching Atlantis? Are you simply running the executable (“Atlantis.exe”) or double-clicking RTF or DOC files in your file manager? Are you launching Atlantis with a special command-line (“Help | Contents > Command-line Parameters”)?
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Robert,

Tried all 3 methods of starting Atlantis - none work. Atlantis ver 1.6.2.0 under latest updated Vista-32. MS auto updated this AM; was using Atlantis daily, closed it last night and it would not load this morning.

I am not sure that this could have anything to do with the service packs of MS Office.

Could you please launch an instance of Atlantis under its default settings? This can be done in the following way:

1) Press "Windows Key+R" (the Windows Key can be found between the left Ctrl key and the left Alt). This would display the "Run" dialog of Windows.

2) Paste the following command-line into the edit box of the dialog:

"C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe" -DontLoadSettings -DontSaveSettings

and click OK.

Do you still get error messages?

If you can launch Atlantis with its default settings, the problem is linked to your current Atlantis settings.

If you are familiar with the Windows "Registry Editor" utility, please do the following:

1) Press "Windows Key+R", type "regedit", and press Enter. This would launch the "Registry Editor" utility.

2) Open the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rising Sun Solutions, Inc.\Atlantis.1_x" branch:

3) Choose the "File | Export..." menu command of Registry Editor, and save the "selected branch" to a REG file. Please email this REG file to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com.
