in which format should i save documents in atlantis?

rtf
ms word 6.0/95
ms word 97 - 2003

i don't want any "formatting" or "styling" to be lost.

You can use any of these formats. Atlantis would warn you if some formatting could not be saved under a given document format.

Note that the upcoming version of Atlantis Word Processor 1.6.3 will also support the MS Word 2007 DOCX format. So you could also save your documents as DOCXs.
