global search
global search
The one feature that I desperately need in Atlantis is global search -- i.e. the ability to search several files at the same time. I wonder if there is any plan to introduce that in a future version?
Hi,
If you mean to find out if some text is present in a number of files, you'll be better off using a file manager. I can recommend xplorer² Pro (http://www.zabkat.com). In any case, a good file manager or search utility will tell you which files contain the search string. You can then open these files in Atlantis for editing.
Now if you already know which files contain the search string, you can open them all together in Atlantis and start the search in any one of them. When the search is complete, you only need to click the name of the next document on the Atlantis Document Bar to activate it and search through it. And so on, through all the open documents, one after the other.
Note that you can close the search dialog as soon as you have started a search/replace operation. You can then press:
“F3” to go to the next instance,
“Ctrl+Shift+F5” to replace the next instance.
Using these keyboard shortcuts allows you to get the Search/Replace dialog out of the way, so to speak, and concentrate on the search/replace operation itself.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Robert
