Kudos to Atlantis!

Post by SCOVAV »

When I upgraded my computer and had a nice new hard disk, I made up my mind to NEVER have Word again! So I began to search for a Word Processor - one I could understand and one that would perform as well as Word, without the aggravation!! I downloaded several, and uninstalled them quickly - many software conflicts and some were just not good at all. Then, along came Atlantis! What a lifesaver -I love everything about it, and the big bonus is the great Customer Service that comes along with it! Many thanks to the Staff of Atlantis for providing such a fine piece of software!

Hi! One more happy Atlantis-user as it seems. Do you use it more for writing letters or what. I for myself find it a wonderful program for creating letters of all kinds.

I have persuaded a friend to purchase Ocean Mind and now we exchange emails as encrypted *.cod Atlantis files attached to blank emails. She would be intimidated by PGP, but is really enjoying using Atlantis as her "email client" - and I like thinking that Echelon might find it a bit harder to read my mail. :)

A bit harder? You are kidding! Nobody could crack COD files. Even Echelon, FBI, or CIA...
If they even had all the computers of the world...

Nobody could crack COD files.

That's what I like to hear. ;D
One query though - images inserted into files that are saved as COD don't seem to compress quite as well as when saved to rtf - is there a way around this?

"COD Pictures" are stored in the compressed state too.

But... COD files cannot be compressed. Of course, you could try to compress it but your gain would be about 1%.
As you might know, only those files can be compressed which contain "spare" information.
COD files cannot be compressed because each byte of a COD file is very important. By losing a single byte of a COD file, you lose the entire COD file.

Thanks - I thought so. It's nice to know that my reading on cryptography had given me a correct understanding. :)
Just upgraded to the latest version of Atlantis. I run Windows 98SE and Linux on a dual-boot system. I also own a copy of Microsoft Office 97 (academic discount). Although I'm sure I could find some things wrong with Atlantis, overall it's a great wp. Also, somehow, the update fixed my problem not being able to use my mouse's scroll feature. Before it didn't work; now it does work in Atlantis. Way to go guys. God job.
