When pathing to a location from Atlantis to open or save a file, clicking on a shortcut to the intended location produces an error rather than invoking the shortcut and being taken to the location. This is not a system issue because clicking on a shortcut from all other programs takes me to the locaton from the shortcut. Is there any way that this can be accomplished in Atlantis? I’m using the current version (1.6.1.9).
Also, I can’s get Atlantic to be added as a template in Window XP from the right click context menu for a new file. Is there any reason known as to why this can’t be added there?
Finder abnormaility using Atlantis
If you make Atlantis your default application for the RTF documents (for the ".rtf" file extension), the "New" submenu of the right-click menu of the Windows Desktop would include the "Atlantis Document" command. You can associate Atlantis Word Processor with the desired document types through the "Tools | File Associations..." menu command of Atlantis. Also, I can't get Atlantic to be added as a template in Window XP from the right click context menu for a new file. Is there any reason known as to why this can't be added there?
Thank you for your response.
Regarding the finder pathing issue, the error I get is a Windows message box error "Cannot open file "(path and file name") with cancel and retry buttons. Attached is a graphic of the error. Here, I am attempting to open a .rtf file from Atlantis. The file is located in a subfolder named 1-Tryout in a folder named Software. The shortcut named Tryout is to the subfolder. All other software will take me there when I click on the shortcut. Atlantis doesn't. This is the case with all shortcuts.
Regarding setting up Atlantis as a context menu template, I had previously done as you directed but it still doesn't work. Unless there are any other ideas, I can forgoe this issue and contend with the inconvenience. I certainly would, however, want to at least resolve the top issue which presents a real obstacle to efficiency.

This error message is displayed by Atlantis. It seems that you manually associated Atlantis Word Processor with the .rtf file extension. The problem is that the command-line executed when you double-click the RTF shortcuts, is incorrect. Most probably that you specified the following command-line:
"C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe" %1
This command-line will work correctly only when the document's path+filename includes no space characters. In order to have support for the so called "long filenames", you should enclose %1 within double quotes:
"C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe" "%1"
Note that Atlantis Word Processor has a menu command ("Tools | File Associations...") that can be used to associate/dissociate Atlantis with/from file extensions.
Did it help? If you meant something else, please explain with more details.

The context menu template issue has been resolved. The pathing via shortcut issue has not. The following is for the benefit of readers who may be following this and for further help on the pathing issue:
Resolution of the Context Menu Template Issue
Long ago I had set the Atlantis file association in Atlantis (Tools menu / File Associations) to include .rtf files. I also had set the registered file type .rtf in Windows to open with Atlantis. The context menu for a new file had listed Atlantis document but suddenly stopped. As a result of your response in this forum, I rechecked the Atlantis file association in Atlantis (Tools menu / File Associations). I noted that the .rtf extension was no longer showing up as associated. That was the problem. I re-associated it and now Atlantis shows up as a context menu new file template. Somewhere along the line the association within Atlantis (not in the Windows file type registration, which was still in place) became lost – perhaps during an upgrade installation or perhaps a registry cleaning routine. So if any forum reader ever experiences this problem, there’s where to look.
Atlantis Finder Pathing Issue
The % enclosing does not appear to be relevant to this issue. Perhaps I need to clarify the issue. Let’s say you have a hierarchy of folders/subfolders, for example “Correspondence \ Business \ Finance \ 2008” and in the folder “2008” there are files you want to access, including .rtf files. On the desktop you have a shortcut named Financial Correspondence which takes you to the Finance subfolder. From within Atlantis you go to the File menu / Open and from the pull down menu you select “Desktop.” There you will see the shortcut. Normally and with all other programs except Atlantis, clicking on the shortcut takes me to the Finance subfolder where I am then presented with subfolders and files therein for further selection. With Atlantis, I get the error message when clicking on any shortcut.
Any other ideas? If not, perhaps you could construct a folder hierarchy and test this out for yourself.
Thanks!

Luha -- I'm glad that you echoed in the problem. That indicates to me that it's not something local to my installation. I would venture to say that this is a common if not universal problem with Atlantis. I expect that the administrator will be posting something soon on this issue. BTW, I also can open the other folder when I click the shortcut again, however, this is an inconvenience, especially when pathing through multiple shortcuts, and should not be hapening.
Now I understand what you mean. I can reproduce this error message. It is a glitch with the "Preview" pane in the "Open document" dialog of Atlantis Word Processor: it tries to display a "document preview" for a shortcut associated with a folder.
A fix will be included in any next build of Atlantis.
Thanks for reporting this.
