Can't add any more favourites

Post by andygrunt »

I'm running the latest version of Atlantis and I've recently started having a problem with Atlantis for no apparent reason.

I regularly save docs as 'favourites' so I have quick access to them but in the past few weeks, I've not been able to add any more. I deleted a few old ones thinking I may have hit some upper limit but that hasn't helped (I currently have 21 favourites).

All that seems to happen is a blank entry appears at the top of the favourites list. When I go into 'Organize favourites' and 'View Favourites Folder', there's a 'My Computer' icon at the top of the list - weird. I can add new favourites via the 'organize favourites/add documents' button but it's not as easy as it was before the problem started.

Any ideas?

Most probably you changed the location (folder) for the Atlantis Favorites. If you see "My Computer" among the Favorites, probably Atlantis uses your Desktop for storing Favorites.

If it is your case (if you see plenty of Atlantis files/shortcuts on the Desktop), please go to "Organize Favorites..." in Atlantis, click the "Browse..." button, and choose the "C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Favorites" folder. Do not transfer any Favorites to the new location if suggested.

Did it help?

A fair guess but I didn't change the location of the favourites. Also, none of my other desktop icons appears in the favourites list and I would immediately notice if a new icon (Atlantis favourites or otherwise) appeared on my desktop.

Looking in 'organize favourites', the favourites folder is set to 'C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Favorites'.

Please check the contents of the "C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Favorites" folder in your file manager (Windows Explorer). This folder is supposed to include only .lnk files associated with documents on your disk. It might also have subfolders (if you created them in your file manager).

If this folder includes other files, please remove them (or move them to another folder). Alternatively please rename this folder to "Favorites_save" with your file manager, and start adding documents to Favorites from a scratch (use the "File | Favorites | Add to Favorites..." menu command of Atlantis, or the corresponding toolbard button).

I'd already deleted the 'My Computer' file so the only files in 'C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Favorites' were the shortcuts to all my .rtf documents - there were no subfolders.

I followed your advice and renamed the old favorites folder, created a new one and ran Atlantis but when I pressed the 'Add to Favorites' button, it just created another blank in the favourites list (which shows up as a 'My Computer' when I view the favorites folder). I also tried adding a fave via the 'file/favorites/add to favorites' menu item but no luck.

Next, I tried copying one of the 'link' files from the old favorites folder to the new one and sure enough it appeared in the faves list and loaded the correct doc. Trying to add a favourite via Atlantis after that just produced the now familiar 'blank/my computer' thing again.

Hi,
A ".lnk" shortcut icon to "My Computer" is systematically created in "C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Favorites" if the Clippy Bank is displaying and I click "File | Favorites | Add to Favorites".
But of course, the Clippy Bank (contents) should not be added to the Atlantis Favorites. Not directly anyway.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks, but I don't think it's related as I've never had clippy bank displayed when adding a favourite.

We admit that the "Add to Favorites" command of Atlantis Word Processor 1.6.1.8 has a bug. A fix will be included in the next maintenance release of Atlantis 1.6.1.9 (it should be available for download in the next few days).

We apologize for inconvenience.

Thank you for reporting this bug.

I just had a very quick try with that new version and it does indeed seem to fix the problem - thanks.
