Printing

Post by ROBART WHITING »

Hello -
We are new to using Atlantis (actually part of database program we use). We have a problem when we try to print multi page reports. The first page of the report - or first form of multiple page report comes out just fine. Atlantis seems to be adding a line to each subsequesnt page (sometimes subtracting line -- depending on top and bottom margin) at the top of the forms.

We are using multiple printers many HP's mostly laser printers (1120 and 2015) that are on network.

Can anyone provide "cure"

Thank you for your time and assistance

Could you please be more specific: what database program you mean?

If you mean that your report gets printed with a wrong pagination, the problem is with the report itself. In other words, the report includes hard-coded formatting that might lead to different pagination on different PCs and printers. You cannot expect that a given document will have the same number of lines per page on any PC since RTFs and DOCs are not device-independent documents. There are formattings that should be avoided in any properly (professionally) designed document. For example, no hard-coded page numbers should be used. Fields of the corresponding types should be used instead. Also manual page breaks should be used only in exceptional cases. There are more professional ways to control document pagination (the "Keep with next", "Keep intact", "Page break before", and "Widow/orphan control" characteristics of the paragraph format).

If you mean something else, please explain with details. If you want to illustrate the problem in an even better way, please send sample documents to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com (please ZIP your documents before attaching to your email message).

The Database program is FilePro. Autually Atlantis came with the program. I'm trying to assit a new user of FilePro. My version of the program doesn't utiltize Atlantis.

As far as the rports and forms in Filepro, I have made sure any codes for extra lines have been removed. I'm not sure why the "top of page/form" doen't hold.

The problem is that I have no idea how the report looks like. If you emailed us a "faulty" report", possibly we could say what is wrong.

Did you contact the technical support department of Filepro?
