I do a lot of shrinking of lines in order to pull lone words back into a paragraph. I do this by compressing the text, but that isn't always desirable, and has its limits (0.3, for me). I long for a feature I used to have (in WordPerfect, I think). That allowed me to shrink the spaces between the words without affecting the characters in the words. I currently do this manually by assigning a different font size to the spaces. NOT very handy. Any chance of adding that font spacing option?
Hi,
This can be done quite easily if you press Ctrl+F, type a space character in the Find box, and press "Find and Select All". When all the space characters are selected, you can change their font size to 6pts, or less.
Thanks, Robert. That's what I do. But I have trouble remembering all the different hidden techniques--I'm more of a mouse guy--and was hoping for another option under Format/Font.
The problem is that the RTF and DOC document format specifications do not offer tags for controlling inter-word spacing. We cannot add custom tags unsupported by other word processors.
