problem with project document...

Post by Andremusic »

I tried out the project option by opening a couple of empty new documents, and save everything as a project. I closed Atlantis, opened it again and got the errormessage that it wasn't able to open the project. After clicking ok, I got lot's of error message, probably because of not able to find the documents. Now, I tried it again and are not able to save the project itself with all the new empoty documents.. Do I do something wrong?

I like this option tuhough, my books have many seperate documents.

My third attempt with this option was different. Now, after closing the project, Atlantis asked me to save all the separate documents, what I did. After that, I closed the whole project. Then I tried to open the project again, but Atlantis didn't open anything, as if it couldn't find it. There was no error message this time.

Hi André,
Did you use "File | Document Project | Close" to close your project?

Be careful, Project Files behave in a special way. The safest way is never to close or save your Document Projects yourself (manually). Here is how Document Projects work:

When Atlantis is in the project mode,

all open documents are automatically included in the current document project,

all the documents that you close are automatically excluded from the current project.

Click File | Document Project | New to create a brand new project. Atlantis will ask you to provide a name for the project before creating it. All open documents will automatically be included in the project. Note that creating a new project automatically closes any previously open document project.

To add documents to an open project, simply open more documents in Atlantis, or create new documents.

To remove documents from an open project, simply close them. They will no longer be considered as belonging to the project.

Click File | Document Project | Open... to load all the documents belonging to a given document project. Note that opening a project automatically closes all previously open documents.

Click File | Document Project | Save to save all the currently open documents and the current project file (the .adpr file) to disk. Note that you will rarely need to use this command because projects are automatically saved when they are closed, or when you close Atlantis under the project mode.

Click File | Document Project | Save As... to save all the currently open documents and the current project file (the .adpr file) under a different name.

Click File | Document Project | Close to save the current project with all the open files, then close them. Atlantis will automatically switch into its standard non-project mode.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Robert
