Insert Text Selector Turned to a Pencil

Post by LittleGreenDots »

Hi. I am a very satisfied Atlantis user and have been for a few years now.

Something happened while writing last night in Atlantis on my laptop that I can't remedy. It's the INSERT icon, the one I use to select text. It turned to a pencil and isn't working. I must have hit some hot key combo. What is this and how do I turn it off? I cannot select text now.

Thanks.

When you choose a color through the "Font color" toolbar button, and there is a selection in the document, a new color gets applied to the selection. But when nothing is selected in the document, the "Font color" mode is launched. The mouse pointer switches to a "caret+pen" (as shown on the attached image). You can now use the mouse to select text fragments in your document, and any selected text fragment gets automatically formatted with the selected color. This mode can be toggled off by clicking the "Font color" button, or by pressing the Esc key. So if you do not need this mode, just select a target text fragment in your document before choosing a color through the drop-down menu of the "Font color" toolbar button.
