I have a problem with a font in Atlantis: One of my favourite fonts is “Junicode”
(which can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=158636).
This font works fine in roman, bold and bold italic – but the italic version makes my whole document collapse into black blotches: the spacing disappears and all the letters end up on top of each other.
This is probably a bug in this version of the font – but other programs have managed to print this font properly in spite of this bug. Do you think you can make Atlantis manage it, too?
Junicode problem
Re: problem with Junicode-Italic.ttf
Hi,
Atlantis does have a problem with the "italic" variant of that font.
Until the developers find a fix for this, I can offer a workaround:
Open the Windows Control Panel, then the Font folder. Uninstall the "JunicodeItalic" variant but keep the other variants. Atlantis will still be able to format texts normally with italics and the Junicode font ( have a look at the screen capture below).
Cheers,
Robert

There is a glitch in the italic version of this font. Windows fails to retrieve the character widths for this font when Atlantis requests the entire Western ANSI codepage from this font (characters with codes #0 through #255). Something is wrong with the ANSI character #190 in this font.
Attached a document formatted with Junicode. This document includes that "faulty" character. Just try to format this document with Junicode Italic, and most word processing software (including WordPad and MS Word) will be unable to display its text (not only the character #190 will not be displayed correctly but the whole document text).
So it is not a bug in Atlantis. But since such "inaccurately designed" fonts are possible, in such cases Atlantis will retrieve character widths one by one omitting any faulty character. This provision will be included in any next build of Atlantis.

Updating program files on a U3-smart drive manually is a little bit trickier thing because the "program files" folder on a U3-smart drive is a hidden folder. Also making changes to the program files on a U3-smart drive is not recommended. You could upgrade your U3-smart version of Atlantis through its "Help | Check for Updates..." command when a new version of Atlantis gets released. I also doubt that you could find many PCs with that Junicode font. So I suppose it is not so urgent.
