Notepad Replacement?
Is there a way I can configure Atlantis to replace Notepad.exe in Windows 98SE?
Re: Notepad Replacement?
You can associate Atlantis with the TXT file extension. Atlantis Ocean Mind can do this automatically (Tools | Associate With Document Type... menu command).
Re: Notepad Replacement?
Is it possible to associate more than one type of file extension as a default to open?
Re: Notepad Replacement?
Yes, you can associate Atlantis with as many file types (extensions) as you wish.
Re: Notepad Replacement?
How does one disassociate a file extension?
Re: Notepad Replacement?
There is no automatic revert operation (disassociate).
You should associate another application with the desired file extension. You could use the Windows Explorer's View | Folder Options... command to change association.
Re: Notepad Replacement?
I haven't tried this with Atlantis, but it works with my personal notepad replacement, Metapad (which reads RTF, BTW).

1. Copy Notepad to another folder (don't rename it).

2. Copy Atlantis.exe to the Windows folder.

3. Reboot into real-mode DOS.

4. From DOS, rename the Atlantis copy as Notepad.exe

Now, everything associated with Notepad goes to our favorite.
Re: Notepad Replacement?
For years I've used an excellent little text-only freeware program called Notepad+ as a replacement for Windows Notepad. It looks and feels like Notepad, but does a lot more without losing the simplicity of Notepad. Check it out at:

http://www.mypeecee.org/rogsoft/notepad.html
Re: Notepad Replacement?
had just a look on it. Seems to be a little similar to the Atlantis 0.7.
