v. 1.6.1.4 problem with pasting picture

Post by Frank Kolwicz »

If I do a system reboot I can paste 1 image into a new doc, then all I get is a blank white box. The image is in the clipboard, I checked the viewer, but I doesn't go into Atlantis.

Any ideas?

Greetings--
Is "Picture placeholders" checked on the Atlantis "Tools | Options > View" tab? If this is the case, uncheck that option.

Is your picture of a supported type:
• Bitmaps (BMP)
• Enhanced Metafiles (EMF)
• Metafiles (WMF)
• JPEG Images (JPG)
• CompuServe GIF Images (GIF)
• Portable Network Graphics (PNG)
• Zsoft Paint Brush Images (PCX)
• Truevision Targa Images (TGA)
• Tag Image File Format (TIF)
• Kodak Photo CD (PCD)
• Windows Icons (ICO)
• Cursors (CUR)
• Animated Cursors (ANI)
?

If the original picture is indeed of a supported type, could you please send it to comment@AtlantisWordProcessor.com? If it is a picture on a Web page, could you please send its URL (Web address)?
Thanks.

Problem solved! But, how about memory?

Post by Frank Kolwicz »

The problem was a file that was too large, but that brings up another question: how much memory does Atlantis address? I have 2 gig memory and am used to having Photoshop access 1.7 of that, but Atlantis doesn't seem to be able to use all of my memory and that may be why it choked on a file of about 100Meg inadvertently sent to it.

Atlantis can use as much memory as Windows can allocate to Atlantis in a given situation. But some Windows functions might fail to process such extreme amounts of graphic data.
It is hard to say what causes the problem without having the picture. But I am not sure that a word processor is a proper tool for handling such huge graphic objects. Some document formats do not even allow to have such huge objects within a document.

Sending the big files was a mistake on my part, I didn't understand a command in the program that created the files, but now I've got that under control. I was just surprised that Atlantis wasn't using all the memory available, according to TaskManager/Performance, for whatever reason.
