Re: Flash drive
What is it that doesn't work for you? I don't think it can get any easier than what's already in the help-file:medion wrote:I have tried the instructions on how to save Atlantis to a flash drive but i just cannot figure it out. Jannik1. Launch Atlantis (if Atlantis is not running yet) on your computer as usual, and choose the Tools | Options... command.
Click the Save to File... button, and save the settings to the home folder of Atlantis on your hard drive (the settings filename should be Atlantis.ini).
2. Copy the home folder of Atlantis (by default, "C:\Program Files\Atlantis") to your memory flash drive.
Re: using Atlantis Word Processor from a flash drive
Greetings–
Have you looked at the corresponding page of the Atlantis online help at
http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en ... drives.htm
Here is a recap. The steps are very simple:
1. If Atlantis is not running yet, launch Atlantis as usual.
2. Open the “Options” dialog (“Tools | Options...” command).
3. Click the “Save to file...” button on the bottom left corner.
4. Save the “Atlantis.ini” file to the home folder of Atlantis on your hard drive (this folder should normally be suggested by default in the dialog).
5. Close all open dialogs.
6. Close Atlantis.
7. Plug your flash drive in if it isn’t already.
8. Open Windows Explorer (or any other file manager that you might be using).
9. Navigate to the home folder of Atlantis on your hard drive (by default, "C:\Program Files\Atlantis").
10. Select the “Atlantis” folder name in Windows Explorer.
11. Right-click and choose “Send To” from the pop-up menu.
12. Click the flash drive item in the “Send To” sub-menu.
13. Wait till the whole “Atlantis” folder has been copied to your flash drive.
14. Still in Windows Explorer (or your alternative file manager), navigate to the flash drive root folder.
15. Locate the “Atlantis” executable on your flash drive (“Atlantis.exe”).
16. Double-click the executable name (“Atlantis.exe”) to launch Atlantis from your flash drive.
17. Use Atlantis as usual.
The next time you want to use Atlantis from your flash drive, things will be easier:
1. Plug your flash drive in if it isn’t already.
2. Open Windows Explorer (or any other file manager that you might be using).
3. Locate the “Atlantis” executable on your flash drive (“Atlantis.exe”).
4. Double-click the executable name (“Atlantis.exe”) to launch Atlantis from your flash drive.
5. Use Atlantis as usual.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Robert

Re: can't Atlantis just be copied to my flash drive
If this is what you mean, there is no automatic way to do it directly from Atlantis.medion wrote:But can't the Atlantis folder just be copied to my flash drive?
You have to do it as described above (from Windows Explorer). But you only have to do it once to install Atlantis on the flash drive. After that, the steps are very easy:
1. Plug the flash drive in.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Navigate to the Atlantis folder on your flash drive.
4. Open the Atlantis folder.
5. Double-click “Atlantis.exe”.
Now if you find launching Atlantis from Windows Explorer too complicated, you could create a shortcut to “Atlantis.exe” on your Windows Desktop. After that, you’d only to double-click this shortcut on your Desktop to launch Atlantis from the flash drive. Here are the steps:
1. Plug the flash drive in.
2. Right-click your Windows Desktop.
3. Choose “New > Shortcut” from the pop-up menu.
4. Use the Windows dialog to create a shortcut to the version of “Atlantis.exe” located on your flash drive.
5. Give this Desktop Shortcut any convenient name (e.g. “Flash Drive Atlantis”).
6. Double-click this Desktop shortcut to launch Atlantis from the flash drive.
Please never forget to plug the flash drive in before you double-click this Desktop Shortcut.
Cheers
