Why Dependency On mapi32.dll?

Post by adamlau »

I believe it to be unnecessary - particularly on systems such as mine where the entire Windows Messaging API subsystem has benn removed for security reasons...

mapi32.dll is the standard Windows library. I am not sure that removing the standard libraries from Windows is a good idea.

nLited, XPLited and other custom installations (including those that specify the removal of the MAPI subsystem for security reasons) remove certain standard libraries. These custom installs are becoming more prevelant as users are becoming more aware of both the security and performace gains (which Atlantis touts) of minimal installs. Remove the dependence on mapi32.dll (as AbiWord has) and you do interoperability with customs builds a favor. Otherwise, your product appears quite polished and useable.

I can't operate Atlantis because it can't find mapi32.dll - what can I do? I ran Registry Mechanic and did a system restore.

Please help! All my documents are in Atlantis.

Desperate!

Atlantis Word Processor 1.6.1 will not be statically linked to the mapi32.dll library. Even if you remove this library from your Windows, you could still use Atlantis but obviously the email-related features of Atlantis would not be available.
