Losing pictures in RTF documents

Post by Bob Bild »

I am running v1.5.3.0. One of the functions I use it for is as a news collector of stories found on the web that I want to keep for future reference. So I'll select and copy text from a web page and Paste it into Atlantis. Some stories have relevent pictures that I copy and paste into the the story. Over time, after adding additional stories to the beginning of my "NEWS" document, I have noticed that pictures pasted in in earlier sessions have disappeared. Any have any clues on what's happening or what I'm doing wrong? Or is it a bug.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Pictures could not disappear if they were pasted to a document in Atlantis. Most probably that the pictures were not actually pasted to Atlantis (if you pasted page fragments copied in MS Internet Explorer). MS IE does not place actual pictures onto the clipboard but only their URLs (addresses). Atlantis 1.5.3 in such cases displays blank placeholders instead of actual pictures.

The new version of Atlantis which is current under betatesting, can resolve such picture URLs by downloading pictures from the Web. You can read about this here.

I don't understand it either.

I have just reviewed, page by page, my now 145 page "NEWS" document and of the 7 images pasted in 2 are missing. I am aware that pictures do not copy over with text from IE, so when capturing a story i go back to the web page, right click on the image I want, selec t copy, switch back to Atlantis, place the cursor where I want the picture to be, right click and select paste.

As I think about it now, the two missing pictures were drawings; perhaps they were of a format unsupported by Atlantis. I will pay closer attention to this possibility in the future and let you know if the problem persists.

Thanks for your help and rapid reply.
