error with autocopies checking if %Temp% folder is encrypted
error with autocopies checking if %Temp% folder is encrypted
There is an intresting bug in Atlantis. If %Temp% folder on system NTFS-drive under Windows XP is system-encrypted, Atlantis creates automatically autocopyies (the options "Safeguard every..... minutes..."), but it produces error messages each time after a copy is created. I assume this to happen because Atlantis can not read correctly those copies it produces itself in encrypted %Temp% folder. But why can not it do it? System encryption has to be absolutely transparent for it (as it is for any other application), hasn't it?
Are you use sure that it has anything to do with encryption? I have just encrypted my Temp folder, and cannot reproduce anything wrong.
What if you temporarily remove encryption from your Temp folder? If you still have error messages from Atlantis, this problem has a different explanation.
Also what if you close your current document, and check whether Atlantis creates safe copies for other documents properly? Maybe this problem is document-specific? If so, could you please send your "faulty" document to betatesting@rssol.com ?

Yes, I'd already checked it before and jsut now have checked it once more, for your convinience. When I have decrypted %Temp% folder, Altantis finished notifing any error, and it started again immidiately when I've re-encrypted %Temp% folder. I don't thnik there to be some other cause here.admin wrote: Are you use sure that it has anything to do with encryption?...

I have no any idea about possible reasons of this difference. Is your OS is Windows XP Prpfessional as my own? What is you path of %Temp% folder? My own is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\.I have just encrypted my Temp folder, and cannot reproduce anything wrong.
Have you noticed this remark in my first letter, that Atlantis in fact creates its autocopies in encrypted Temp folder, but gives misleading erorr messages that it could not do it?
Hi there!
Have any wize proffy any idea to workaround this my problem?
Perhaps it would be possible to configure Atlantis and/or Windows in the way to make Atlantis to put subsidiary files into another directory? Or may be there are some third-side software for Windows at the market to assign for some special application its own %TEMP% variable different from the system’s general %TEMP%?

The current public version of Atlantis may access a safe copy of the document for placing its copy to the Backup Files (the next release will save to Backup Files differently). But I tried creating a safe copy with the Backup Files enabled. Still cannot notice anything wrong.
If you are sure that the source of those error messages is the "Safeguard" feature, please disable it. When we start testing a new release of Atlantis, you could try it, and check if the problem persists. If it persists, we could look into this more precisely.

projection when a new beta-version may be released
Greetings--However have you now any more or less exact (in monts or years) projection when a new beta-version may be released?
As already stated on this very Forum, in the next few months.
Of 2005 of course.
Cheers
