Not working? Are you sure, Max?

If you tried to drag this picture outside the Atlantis window, this will not work.

You can drag pictures in the same way as ordinary text. Just click the picture to select it, then hold the left mouse down, then drag the mouse pointer. The shadow cursor would indicate the document position where the picture being dragged will be moved.

Re: Drag and Drop not working
I have the following puzzling situation. Drag and drop works erratically. Somtimes I can highlight a single word and drag it. Sometimes my efforts simply highlight the rest of the document, paragraph at a time. I've tried varying the rate at which I click, but nothing seems to work consistently. (This is on my desktop machine running NT.) On my laptop running Windows 2000, drag and drop works as advertised.
Re: Drag and Drop not working
A triple click highlights the word under the mouse pointer. Just delay the third click to start dragging.
Re: Drag and Drop not working
Thanks, that works much of the time. But I can not figure out how to drag and drop a phrase or a sentence. I highlight the phrase, but no matter how long I wait, the next click highlights more text. I can never drag the highlighted phrase anywhere.
Re: Drag and Drop not working
Bruce, the following scheme must work on any computer and on any operating system.

So, you have some text selected (it is displayed using inverse colors). All the mouse buttons are released. Now you wish to drag this selected text to another point of your document.
So, place the mouse pointer over the selected text (do not press any mouse buttons yet). The mouse pointer should look like an arrow.
Then hold the left mouse down, and move the mouse pointer (the left mouse button should be in the pressed state while you move the mouse pointer).
Release the left mouse button when the mouse pointer is over the target point.
Re: Drag and Drop not working
Yes, I understand. I just followed your instructions. This is exactly how I drag and drop in Microsoft Word. When I clicked with the left button and held down the button to drapg the highlighted text, the highlighting expanded to include the material I was dragging over. Last evening at home on my portable, everything worked just as you say.

I uninstalled Atlantis here and reinstalled it. Same behavior. When I unselect "drag and drop", the editor behaves exactly the same way as it does when I select drag and drop (from the Tools/options/edit menu). Most perplexing....
Re: Drag and Drop not working
Do you have any mouse add-ons/extenders installed that might change the software behavior?
Re: Drag and Drop not working
Success! The machine here has a Microsoft intelli-mouse. The driver is a plain vanilla PS2 port mouse. When we installed the intellimouse software and rebooted the problem was gone. I'd never had any problems before, but obviously there was sort of incompatibility. Live and learn. Thanks for your help.
