Close Down Atlantis Mind

Post by sjmclean »

Hiya,

I've just started trialing Atlatis Mind 1.5. So far it looks really promising for my needs. It's got a really good familar interface much like MS offerings, which make the transition alot easier.

However I have come across a situation that I'm not sure is right. I started writing a document, then decided that I couldn't be bothered and tried to close down Atlantis by Clicking the X. The save as dialog box comes up - the problem is I don't want to save it. It won't let me exit until i save it. I have tried File close, File exit however they all result in the same thing. In the end I had to save the document to exit.

I have tested to see if this occurs all the time and it does. This would become really annoying to say the least for what is so far a really good product. Has anyone else experience the same thing?? I'm using the latest version downloaded a few days ago(1.5).

Any suggestions or is this a bug?

Normally Atlantis displays the following message when you are about to close a modified document:

Document ??? has been modified. Save changes?

This message includes the "Do not show this message again" box. Most probably that you checked this box, then answered "Yes" to the "Save changes?" message. Atlantis has recorded your choice ("Yes"). And this is why Atlantis does not display the "Document ??? has been modified. Save changes?" message any more but automatically suggests to choose a filename for your document.

Please use "Tools | Options > General > Optional Messages” dialog to enable messages which you disabled.

The “Do not show this message again” feature of the next release of Atlantis will be more self-explanatory, intuitive and consequently safer. For example, if you check the “Do not ask again” box of the dialog on the following screen capture:

Atlantis would display the following information:

I think it could not be misinterpreted.

Greetings–
When this happens to you, you have 2 solutions:

1. As Admin pointed out, at some point in the past you must have asked Atlantis to skip confirmation for that kind of dialog and to automatically save documents that you close. All you have to do is to restore confirmation for that dialog if you do not want it to be skipped any longer. This is done from the "Tools | Options > General > Optional Messages” dialog.

2. Let’s suppose that you do not want to restore confirmation dialogs for all documents that you might close in the future. Let’s suppose that you only want to close the current document without saving. In this particular case, —remember, you asked Atlantis to skip any confirmation dialog and save all your documents automatically—, you can get out of this Catch-22 by taking the following steps:

Undo all changes that you might have made in the current document. It will then be considered as a new “virgin” document and Atlantis will not attempt to save it. It will be closed without any further trouble.

Note that by default the “Undo All” button is present on the Standard Toolbar of the Atlantis Alternative Toolbar Set.

Thanks Guys,

I did find it kind of odd that I didn't get a confirmation box asking to save. But as someone mentioned I must have at some stage requested not to be bothered by that request. All fixed up now...Thanks Guys!!
