Hello everyone,
I recently came across Atlantis and have to say I absolutely love it. I am a blind college student using a screen reading package from http://www.FreedomScientific.com. The amount of configurability and standardized control structure make this program nearly perfectly accessible. I say nearly, only because I have a quick question. By default, I can press the Alt key to activate the menu bar, but I get no spoken feedback as to which menu item is currently selected. Once I enter the menu itself, I am able to read its options, but the main menu bar seems to be giving my screen reader some problems. Could there perhaps be something on the screen blocking the main portion of the menu bar? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for such an outstanding word processor!

In Atlantis, pressing the Alt key by itself is not enough to highlight a menu on the bar. You have to press the Alt key, then the right arrow key. This will select the “File” menu. If you press the right arrow key once more, you will shift the menu selection to the right, i.e. you will select the “Edit” menu. Press again, and you will select the “View” menu. And so on.
Hope this helps.
Please let us know.

Hello Robert,
Yes, the navigation commands work without a hitch in the menus, but still no feedback on the main items such as File, Edit, View, Format, etc. This isn't terribly a big deal since I've figured out the hotkeys for most of the menus, but those less experienced in Windows might give this program an unfair rating because of this quirk.
Thanks,
Steve

Here are the accelerator keys for the main menus. From left to right on the bar:
1. File = F
2. Edit = E
3. View = V
4. Insert = I
5. Format = O
6. Tools = T
7. Window = W
8. Help = H
