Endnote and Atlantis

Post by marc maxson »

Since Atlantis is growing up and becoming a serious alternative to pure Office Word, I have begun writing academic articles with it. However, Atlantis doesn't integrate with Endnote - a very important reference manager that plugs nicely into word.

So I do my home edits with Atlantis and then load up the document on Word on another computer to finalize the references.

However, Atlantis has a BUG and does not preserve Office2000 formatted documents perfectly, with respect to atlantis field codes.

The techs and Endnote isolated the problem:

"Enclosed is a fixed version of your document, it looks like Atlantis removes a single space at the start of EndNote's hidden field codes which EndNote needs to have present in order to use the citations, so I did a find/replace to add the space back and this fixed the problem. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks!"

Therefore, please fix this BUG in future versions so that we can edit in Atlantis without loosing Endnote compatibility when we export it to Word.

First, the present version of Atlantis does not support footnotes/endnotes. It should not be used for editing documents containing footnotes/endnotes.

Also I do not understand which hidden field codes you mean.

Endnote

Endnote is a bibliographic software that keeps track of academic references and cites and formats them in your document. When you cite a reference using Endnote, it inserts a field code, which the program converts to proper citation and reference later.

Hope this helps.

The present version of Atlantis does not support the ADDIN (or "Plug in module private") field type used by EndNote. Atlantis has no features requiring this field type.

The next release of Atlantis Ocean Mind will preserve fields of this type.
