Greetings--
The MS Serif font (SERIFE.FON) is a Windows system font designed for the display of text on the system dialogs and windows. This is why fonts with the “.fon” extension have the “Hidden” attribute in Windows Explorer. Such system fonts (fonts with the “.fon” extension) cannot be used in a word processor. If you look at the fonts available in Windows WordPad, you’ll notice that MS Serif is also missing from the WordPad font list. Word processors use fonts with the “.ttf” extension only, not system fonts. You would not find the MS Serif font in MS Word either.

Right, it is not a TrueType font. It cannot be used for WYSIWYG word processing.
