Synaptivcs mousepad

Post by mcleaver »

I have a new notebook, an Acer with a Synaptics mousepad. This has a central scroll button which should operate the same as the scroll wheel on the normal mouse, and it does in most Windows applications, but not in Atlantis (or in Firefox).
Does anyone else have experience of this device and why it doesn't work?
Regards

Is this device compatible with MS WheelMouse (or can it work in the MS-WheelMouse-compatible mode)? Can it be customized in any way?

It calls itself a Synaptics TouchPad V5.8 and is (virtually) plugged into the PS2 mouseport. It seems compatible with most software, but not with Atlantis or Frigate (a WIndows Commander clone).

Can this device be customized? Does its driver/software offer any settings/options?

Indeed... the usual speed, snap to, visibility, hide while typing, show with Ctrl as well as a whole utility with actions for tapping, buttons, "virtual scrolling" etc...
But somehow the scroll doesn't work with the butotn or the edge in Atlantis.
