missing special symbols

Post by jtdog »

Greetings,

Some posts in the feature request section mention special symbols for column breaks and section breaks. I don't have these in my special symbols menu. Nor do I have a section break menu command set as shown in Help, sections (there is a picture of it). I am running Atlantis version 1.5.3.1.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks, Jeff

The drop-down menu of the "Insert Symbol" toolbar button includes the "Column break" command. Also you could associate the "Insert Column Break" command with the desired hot key through the "Tools | Hot Keys" dialog. You could also place this command on your toolbars, or add it to your menus (Tools | Toolbars, Tools | Menus).

a work-around for tables. Not nice, but it works. (It is like the old beloved WP5.1 once worked) :
1. attribute (for example) Ctr-3 to ''column break''
2. attribute (for example) Ctr-4 to ''section break continuous'' (Robert mentioned recently how)
3. choose a column (2, 3 or 4 etc).
4. start writing. When you want to select the next column, insert ''column break'';
5. after the last column (at the same heigth) insert section break.

Succes,

Vncnt,

That's just it; when I go to symbols, special symbols, to the drop down menu, "insert column break" is not there (nor is "insert section break).

Thanks, Jeff

Greetings--
The "insert column break" command is not on the "Special Symbols" tab of the "Symbols" dialog.
It is on the drop-down menu (down arrow) attached to the "Insert symbol" toolbar button.
Alternatively, you can assign a hot key to it ("Tools | Hot Keys...")

Thanks Robert and Vncnt for the help. The scales have been lifted from my eyes, and I now see both column breaks and section breaks. Life is good.
