Access Violation

Post by Angela »

Hi;

I am Using Atlantis 1.5.3.1. Whever I go to the page settings Menu and edit a setting when I try to close the menu box I get an error message saying Access error in Atlantis.exe. This happens in both Windows 98 and XP. Anyone else having this problem and what can i do about it?

What are your default printers on both PCs (as I understand, you tried Atlantis on two different PCs)? Could you also send your current Atlantis settings to betatesting@rssol.com (please use "Tools | Options > Save settings to INI file" button to save your settings to an INI file, and send this file to the above email address)?

Dear Admin;

I am not sure that I understand your question I don't have a printer on either machine. I have submitted my ini. file to rssol.com

Thanks,

It seems that we have not received your message. What was the subject of your message?

Do you have error messages if you use the "File | Preview" mode?

What was the error address in that message: "Access violation at address ???????? in Atlantis.exe"? It would be even better if you sent a screen capture of that error message.

I know that you do not have a printer. But what if you choose the "File | Print" command in Atlantis? Do you have any messages from Atlantis or from Windows?

Greetings–
Often word processors need to interrogate a printer driver in order to format documents. If you have no printer installed, you might try to install a printer driver. You can install any printer driver, even if there is no corresponding hardware printer actually connected to your PC.

Here are step by step instructions on how to install a printer driver under Windows (captions may vary slightly depending on your version of Windows):

-Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
-Double-click "Printers & Faxes".
-Double-click "Add Printer".
-Click Next in the Add Printer Wizard Welcome screen.
-Click "Local Printer attached to this computer" and clear the checkmark box next to "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer..."
-Click Next.
-Select LPT1: or FILE:
-Click Next.
-Choose any printer on the list (one that you’d like to buy for example).
-Click Next.
-Give the printer a custom name.
-Click "Yes" under "Do you want to use this printer as the default printer".
-Click Next.
-Click "Do not share this printer".
-Click Next.
-Answer “No” to “Do you want to print a test page?”
-Click Next.
-Click Finish.

Note:
If "Use this printer as the default printer" was not available as indicated above, click Start, Settings, Printers in Windows.
Right-click the printer you just installed and click "Set as default printer" from the pop-up menu.

After installing this “fake” printer on your system, open Atlantis, create a new document and try to change its page settings. Do you still get error messages?
Cheers

To Administrator and Robert;

You are both right. It was a printer problem. When I installed a printer as Robert suggested the access violation diasappeared. Everything is running fine now.

Thanks to you both,
Angela
