Creating your own templates

Post by thoydloki »

I have a standard format that I use for everything I write. Is there a way to have any new text document come up already in the format that I want?

Of course. Create an empty document with your settings and save it (save special -> save as template) as "normal".

Choose "File | Document Templates", select your default template (by default, "Normal"), open it, make the desired changes to it (for example, change its page settings), and save it.

Alternatively you could choose "File | Page Settings", specify the desired page size and/or margins, and click the "Default" button.
