Style Hot Keys are not saved in *.doc

Post by Andrzej »

Every time when I open my document in Atlantis I MUST choose Format/Apply document template to have my hot keys for styles.
It is becouse after saving / opening file again - they are lost.

It applies to MS Word 97/2000 format.

It does not disturb so much - but would be great to have it working.

If there is another way to keep Style Hot Keys: Please let me know.

Regrettably style hot keys (shortcuts) are an undocumented component of the MS Word DOC files. This component is considered by MS Word as proprietary, and it is not documented within the “Microsoft Word Binary File Format” specifications. Thus, Atlantis currently can neither save style hot keys to MS Word DOC files, or read these hot keys from DOC files created in MS Word. However, Atlantis can perfectly save and read style hot keys to and from RTF documents. Maybe you could use the RTF format instead of the DOC format for your documents.

store hot keys in general/personal atlantis settings

Post by Andrzej »

 In my personal opinion (Maybe other people think different) eaven storing hot keys in rtf or any documet type does not make biger sense as every user has different personal preferences.
What about idea to store hot keys in general/personal atlantis settings as pairs: <HotKey: StyleName> . Than I can open a document from anybody using any styles and then (examples) every time I press Ctrl+Shift+N I have style "Normal" if such style exists in document, every time I press Ctrl+Shift+1 I have Heading 1 (If exists) etc.
This would solve all problems. But as I wrote before: the problem is really minor as everybody can Apply Format Template before starting editing.
