Sorry. This seems like a simple problem which should have a simple solution in Help or FAQ's. But can't seem to find the answer.
Using Atlantis Ocean Mind 1.5.1.4, WinXP_Home.
When I use Atlantis to make a draft and then paste it into a web based email program, say my ISP's web based email, some characters turn into garbage symbols.
A recent example:
There’s not a whole lot else going on in our immediate family.
We’re a pretty boring bunch I’m afraid.
Those should be Apostrophes. When I pasted it into my online email progam, it look just fine:
There's not a whole lot else going on in our immediate family
We're a prety boring bunch I'm afraid.
It only happens if I paste it directly into a web based form as mentioned above. If I use Eudora to send it, then the characters are normal. If I type the same message, using WordPad for example, and paste it into an online form, it does not happen. As near as I can determine, it only happens using Atlantis.
So, what am I doing wrong and how to correct? Thanks so much.
Most probably that your Web based application is unable to display curly quotes. Atlantis automatically replaces ordinary quotes with curly quotes as you type. But you could choose "Tools | AutoCorrect Options", and uncheck the "Replace quotes with" box.
Two thumbs up!! That seems to have cured the problem. (It didn't the first test. But after closing and reopening Atlantis, it looks good.) Thanks very much. Have a good weekend!!
???? about the subject..or because I just noticed the forum posted my replies as "Anonymous" instead of my user name? The answer ("Tools | AutoCorrect Options", and uncheck the "Replace quotes with" box) took care of the problem.
