Outlook is probably set to create only pure text messages on your system.
You cannot paste pictures into a pure text document.
This is most likely why they are replaced with red x marks.

When you copy selected text in Atlantis, Atlantis places this selected text onto the clipboard in the RTF format. Pictures (if any) are placed in the Windows Metafile format because this format is supported by all word processors (including their older versions). The problem is that Outlook Express is unable to convert images. It is unable to convert metafiles to GIF or JPEG.Simmi wrote: If I paste any image from atlantis document into Outlook email I just get blank placeholder with red x mark.

If you are using HTML email, you can insert pictures into your messages.
But you cannot use copy/paste from Atlantis.
You must first select the picture in Atlantis, right click on it, then save it to some temporary folder. And finally insert it from that temporary folder into an email message window.
If you are using Outlook Express, it is best to save your pictures as GIF or JPEG. These are the picture formats that OE favours.
However you can also insert PNG pictures into an OE message window. But as OE has no readily available filter to insert PNG pictures, you have to type your own custom filter first in the OE "Insert picture" entry field, i.e. "*.*" or "*.png", then press Enter.

With copy/paste pictures in OE you have not any control...
on what the recipient will see (if in the message) or receive (if as attachement). There is no reason even to suppose OE to accept sich data from the clipboard.
Have in mind that OE is not a halftone or vector picture processing software but a simple e-mail client
The best way is to save the picture in some of the popular formats (for the web) and either to attach it or import it in the body of the message. Or to have the picture file itself from the beginning.
If you like to do things like these, you might look at www.pocomail.com
