Bar tab

Windows Millennium Edition

I have set a Bar tab on the right side of a paragraph style. When I use that paragraph style the vertical line appears on the right hand side of the paragraph whether or not the text has gotten over to that tab position. Is this how the Bar tab is supposed to work? I had assumed that, like the other tabs, it would only do its formatting when the tab position was reached.

Yes, the Bar tab stops are supposed to work in this way.
