Headers/footers and page numbers

Post by John Stafford »

Hi: I want to use page numbers as well as additional information in the same header/footer. So, for example, a left aligned revision date plus a right aligned page number in the same footer. Is there any way to do this? John

Hi, John

Here is how to proceed:

1) Place the insertion cursor to the left of the footer.

2) If there isn't already one, create a right-aligned tab stop on a level with your document right margin.

Note that by default the Atlantis headers and footers include 2 tab stops:

a) a center-aligned tab stop at 3.25"

and

b) a right-aligned tab stop at 6.5"

3) Insert a "Last Save Date" field to the left of the footer.

4) Press the TAB key once or twice to bring the insertion cursor to the right of the footer.

5) Insert a current page field.

Important: if you often add such footers to your documents, you can add the newly-created footer to your clip library.

Here is how to proceed:

1) Create the footer to your liking.

2) Select the whole footer (CTRL+A).

3) Right-click the selection, then click "Add to Clip Library..."

4) Save your clip with any appropriate name.

Next time you want to add such a footer to a document, simply click inside an empty footer, then double-click the appropriate clip in the Clip Library.

Cheers

You can insert as many fields to a header as you wish.

Things are very simple with the latest beta and its Clip Library.
You could simply choose "View | Header", then insert the "Headers and Footers \ Last Saved On" clip, then press Tab twice, then insert the "Headers and Footers \ Page X" clip.

Here is a sample document.
