Cursor and default language code

Hi. Is there any way to prevent the cursor from being bolded along with text (makes it too thick)? Also, I can't get the default language code to stick between documents.

The default language coding can be specified for each particular document individually.<br><br>If you wish to change the default language coding for all newly created documents, open your default document template, change its default language coding, and save it.<br><br>The apperance of the carets cannot be changed.
