Can't save new .rtf AOM 1.5.1.3

Post by Alan »

Windows Millenium Edition
Atlantis Ocean Mind 1.5.1.3

When I created a new .rtf document I was unable to Save it. The Save dialog would come up and I would click on save and it would return me to the document. When I tried to Close immediately after that the Save dialog would pop up again, then I clicked on Save but it returned me to the document and did not close. The only way to close the document was to ignore the changes when closing and not have the document I had just typed in.

Yes, this is OK. When you click the “Save” button of the “Save Document As” dialog, Atlantis creates a new file on your hard disk.

>When I tried to Close immediately after that the Save dialog would pop up again

I cannot reproduce this. This should never happen. Atlantis never displays the “Save Document As” dialog when you close your document.

If the status bar says "Modified", and you close the active document, Atlantis displays the following message:

Document ??? has been modified. Save changes? Yes / No

If you click Yes, Atlantis saves this document without displaying any additional dialogs (if this document already has a file on your hard disk), or displays the “Save Document As” dialog (if this document is newly created).

When I open a New document and add text, Modified appears in the Status bar. When I click on Save nothing happens and Modified is still in the Status bar, the same thing happens when I click on Save As. If I then click on Close the Confirm dialog appears, Document ??? has been modified ..., then when I click on Save I am returned to the document and Modified is still in the Status bar plus it is still open. The only way to close that document is to disregard the changes when I click in the Confirm dialog, this means I end up with no new document.

Does the "File | Save As" command work on your PC for other (not newly-created) documents?

Please choose "Tools | Options", "Load/Save". Is the "Use Document Folder" box checked? What is your Document Folder? Is it a valid folder on your hard disk?

The Save command works for existing files. I do not use Windows My Documents folder but put each type of file into a set of folders I created for easy backup since they are all in one place. I will check out the default save place as you wrote, that sounds like it could be the problem with not being able to save New documents.

I meant the “File | Save As” command not “File | Save”. Are you sure that the “Save As” command works for existing documents?

I don't use the Save As command with existing files so I don't know if it was working with existing files.
I checked the Load/Save as you recommended and found a long alpha-numeric sequence in there. I used Browse to select a place to put documents, that caused New documents to be saved as expected.
Thanks for your help.
