Page numbering when using sections

Post by Pakito »

Hi friends!

I have written a text. In the middle of it, I have created some columns. Because of that, Atlantis changes the page numbers, exactly on the pages where I have setup columns. Each page that have a column started the page numbers all over again (1,2,3,etc.).

I would like to keep the columns but I need the page numbering continuously. My text has 50 pages and the columns are in the end of the file, showing correct page numbers until the page 48, after that, exactly where the columns exists, page numbers start again (1 and 2) and I would like to keep the same chain (48,49 and 50)!

I appreciate any help for this matter.

Pakito, I think you need to click on the 'Format button' on the page numbering dialog. Atlantis gives you the choice of "Continue (numbering) from previous section" or "Start at _". Make sure that you select "Continue from previous section".

Hope this helps.

You are right! I tried this and I'm getting some incorrect numbering at the end of the document. All page 2's...

Try using 'Select All' (Ctrl+A) then go back to the page numbering dialog. Make sure 'Continue from previous section' is checked. This seems to force correct page numbers even with multiple sections.

Every document section can have its own page numbering options.
The "Insert | Page Numbers, Format" dialog applies a new page number format to the selected sections only not to the whole document.
If you want to apply the same page number format to all the sections of your document, you should select the whole document before calling the "Insert | Page Numbers, Format" dialog, as suggested by BuffyBot.

Every document section can also have its own column settings and page settings.
When you apply columns to the selected text, Atlantis creates new sections (new section breaks are inserted to your document). That is why your document contains multiple sections.
