I'm having the same trouble, I can't uncheck the button either.
EUREKA!! The trick is to make sure the type of section break is NOT continuous. I just did this:

and it worked fine.

That button is only in the Headers and Footers toolbar. You must be working in your headers/footers to see it, as here:

The next release will allow to uncheck the “Same as previous” button even for sections preceded by a Continuous section break. This might be useful in some situations.

Right, the “Headers/Footers” toolbar includes the “Same as previous” button:

This special toolbar is available when the “View | Headers and Footers” mode is on.

As we say in german: "Den Wald vor Bäumen nicht sehen." (You see so much trees that you cannot see the forest.) As it seems you cannot do this with an existing document you are modifying - it has to be a new doc!
In this case I got the necessary button and can use it. Thank you!

Es ist sehr bestimmt möglich in an existing document. Man braucht nicht ein neues dokument schöpfen. My screenshots were taken after modifying an existing document, not creating a new

Hey, that is pretty good. You would be understood here.

In the meantime I found my mistake. But to protect the ignorant I refuse to tell it. Just one hint: you have to follow admin's information precisely.

You could achieve the desired results in another way. But it is important to understand how things (headers and sections) actually work.
