safe copies of files

Post by markholman »

Hi,

Thanks for the reply about saving documents earlier.

I have worked out how to have Atlantis make safe copies of files, and by resetting my computer I can see that it's working fine.

What I can't find are icons for the safeguarded copies of my files, when I open the destination folder for the safeguarded copies it appears empty even if I set view hidden/system files.

Is it possible to view safeguarded files and open them without the computer having crashed?

Atlantis saves the safe copies to the temporary folder of Windows.

The default temporary folder of Windows 95/98:
C:\Windows\Temp.
The default temporary folder of Windows 2000/XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp.

Note: "Local Settings" is a hidden folder.

The safe copies have the "aad" file extension.
They are used by Atlantis internally. But you could change their extension, then open them as ordinary documents.

Note: When you close a document, Atlantis deletes its safe copy.
