Input with accents

Post by User919 »

I bought Word Processor more than 2 years ago. I did not use it much so eventually today I found out that is has problem with accented input.

To be exact. I use Czech keyboard layout. This includes some relatively rare characters like ů, č, ě, … When inputting them it results either in Asian characters or something else.

When file containing such characters is opened, there is another sort of “broken” characters.

Surprisingly when some text is pasted into the document there is no problem.

I use 3.3.3.1. I found that from 4.0.4 there should be some code pages support. I was about to try but although I have license I cannot try new version since my evaluation period ended.

Nonetheless I tried on another device and for my disappointment I found that some likely more common characters line ý, ž, etc. are now consumed as input but definitely not all of them despite UTF-8 definitely supports such simple characters.

Is it bug? If this works and I am able to verify on my device I am about to buy new version license.

I have just added the standard Czech keyboard layout to my Windows. I can type all those "rare" characters without a problem.

Why do you need third-party tools to input the Czech characters if Windows natively supports the feature?

If you use the standard input methods of Windows (I mean the standard Czech keyboard layout), and the current font in Atlantis includes glyphs for the Czech characters, everything should work correctly. You can type Czech texts in Atlantis without any Web sites or third-party utilities.

You are right but slightly not. I found the issue.

I use usually English (Europe) + Czech keyboard or English (United States) + Czech keyboard.

I installed Czech + Czech keyboard and with this Word Processor works fine.

In other applications the 2 former combination works.

Is it a bug?

Atlantis does not support typing Czech characters if the input language is not Czech.

Hmmm… That is obvious right now. If this come into the slot, it will be just fine.

I have own reason why to not have Czech installed.

Still thanks for assistance.
