Czech spellchecker

Post by Kyknos »

strange problem with czech spellchecker

all words with czech diacritics (those letters not used in english with various marks above them) are in the dictionary... but with different letters ... it looks like a problem with encoding or what((((((

spellchecker is thus completely useless(((((

i have made a screenshot to explain it better
http://ao.kyknos.org/show/czecherror.png

the word written in the document is correct! however Czech spellchecker marks it as an error... the replacement word suggested by Atlantis is the same word indeed... but it differs in two letters with diacritics.. they are replaced by different letters which are not used in czech at all. Not all letters with diacritics are affected, only some letters, but in all words... and most czech words uses them. so the spellchecker is useless

Image

however if i submit the real (correct) word to my custom (user) dictionary, atlantis remembers it well... but wrong one stays in the dictionary of course
and it affects too many words to be repaired this way (and czech dict is much larger than english one)

i can provide full list of letters affected if needed

i have spent a while by trying what letters make problems-----

---- these are s, t, z (and S, T, Z) with diacritic mark we call "hacek" (i cannot print them directly to this english page), what seems to be important is the fact, that these letters are the only three (or six) differences between encodings WINDOWS-1250 and ISO LATIN 2 (8859-2), which are two main encodings of central european languages used today. (iso used on unix/linux boxes mainly and windows on windows boxes mainly).
Thus it seems spellcheck dictionary is written in ISO and Atlantis uses Windows (or may be opposite). If correct, it can be repaired within few second by converting dictoionary (there are plenty of free utilities to do that)... the only problem is it must be done on dictionary non encrypted... not the version i can download .... u know....

sp please try it

There is no problem with the Czech dictionary. The problem is that the latest builds of Atlantis Ocean Mind (1.1.2.2-1.1.2.7) apply a wrong coding to the Czech words when spellchecking. A fix will be included to Atlantis Ocean Mind 1.1.2.8. It will be posted to the site in a few next days. Thanks.
