Default numbering footnotes and endnotes
Whenever I create footnotes or end notes, they are numbered with roman numerals. Is this a default setting I can easily change? (I personally prefer normal Arabic numerals.)
This needs to be changed in the default template, which originally is the “Normal.rtf” template.
1. Click “File | Document Templates…”
2. Select, then open the “Normal.rtf” template.
3. Click “Insert | Footnote & Endnote…”
4. Click the “Footnotes” radio button at the top of the “Footnote & Endnote” dialog.
5. Set up the footnotes options as suitable.
6. Click the “Endnotes” radio button at the top of the “Footnote & Endnote” dialog.
7. Set up the endnotes options as suitable.
8. Press the “Apply” button at the bottom of the “Footnote & Endnote” dialog.
9. Press “Ctrl+S” to save the changes you just made to your default template.
10. Press “Ctrl+W” to close the default template.
From then on, any new document that you create through “Ctrl+N” will have footnotes and endnotes formatted in the way they were set up in the default template.
