seperate windows ; disable page borders

Post by Quickboo »

Hey guys,
with my research for a quick loading text program, I found Atlantis. I have two questions after some using time:

1) How to get Atlantis, to open every document in a separate window automatically (like in Wordpad and Libre Office)?

2) How to disable the borders between pages, like in Wordpad? I use Atlantis for notes, not for printing.

thank you in advance

1. Every document in Atlantis has a separate document window. But all the document windows share the main menu, toolbars, status bar, and other GUI elements. This is called the "Multiple Document Interface". If you want, you can launch a separate instance of Atlantis for each document (launch Atlantis by double-clicking its Desktop shortcut, then use the "File | Open..." menu command of Atlantis to open a document).

2. You can switch to the Draft view (choose the "View | Draft" menu command of Atlantis). You can find details here.

1) I knew this way (I use a custom run command for fast starting) but I need Atlantis to open a separate instance, every time I open a file, by using a file manager and not the Open function of an allready opened Atlantis instance. Because I am getting crazy messing around with this Document Bar on my multi monitor setup.

2) Thx.. I didn't find "Draft" before because it's not in the free verion. But after installing the trail in a virtual machine, it worked. If I'll get issue 1 worked out, I am going to purchase the full version.

Switching among the open documents in Atlantis is very easy. Right, you can use the Document Bar. But you can also press Alt+1 .. Alt+9, or Ctrl+Tab, or Alt+0. The Document Bar can also automatically sort the document buttons alphabetically.

With the Multiple Document Interface, you can also tile the document windows horizontally or vertically, or "cascade".

Running instances of Atlantis is not recommended. But if you need to open a document from the file manager in a new instance of Atlantis, you can open a modal dialog in the "old" instance (for example, by pressing Ctrl+D), then open the document file from the file manager. A new instance of Atlantis would be launched.

By the way, there was no need in installing one more copy of Atlantis. You could simply choose the "Help | More Features..." menu command of the free copy.

Oh.. the document swiching shortcuts are nice xD. And the Ctrl+D "hack" works. But isn't there a way to do this on default without a modal dialog in the old instance?
