key combination for switching between (active) documents?

Post by franklekens »

Is there a key combination to switch focus between two specific documents (for which "view side by side is activated) when a number of other documents are also open in the application? I mean a key like ALT+TAB, only it would make you move between those two documents primarily?

The only thing I can think of that's available is CTRL+Tab, and that never seems to take me to the right document (if more documents are open than just the two main ones I'm having in side by side view).

There is no such direct key combination. But there is a workaround:
Open the View main menu and make a mental note of the respective numbers of the 2 documents involved in the Side by Side.
Use either number to switch focus to the document of interest with “Alt+Document Number (main keyboard)”.
HTH.

Good tip, thanks! I'll try that. I have to try *something* to prevent me from automatically typing ALT+TAB (ingrained habit) everytime I copy a piece of text from one of the documents to the other... :-)

Does indeed to work fine. (Except for those rare cases when I still automatically type ALT+TAB instead of ALT+Number, but that's my own fault.) Thanks again for the tip!
