Getting writing along side the graphic

I'm writing a 'How To' with a list of components with their instructions by the side.

But when I place to graphic at the left hand side the cursor wont let me reposition the wording down the side, like you get in a newspaper ad.

Can you tell me how I can get this to work as I want to do it for all the components.

Use a 2-column table. Have a look at the attached document.
