I don't think disk space was the issue. When the files were lost, the free space on my SSD jumped from 19 GB to 23 GB. Besides, the files were supposed to be moved to another location on the same disk, not copied.

While I was somewhat angry when this occurred, I'm a bit more philosophical about it ...
