I checked the version of Word I have (2021), and it appears to support font styles as well:

I figured it out; I had to make the changes in Normal.RTF, and now the font styles appear to be updated for new files. What threw me off was the dialog box text when you are changing the default font in other documents:

I can't seem to change the default font that other styles (such as headings and footnotes) are based off of for new documents.

Here are the steps I'm taking:
1. Format -> Style
2. Modify Normal
3. Font -> Select preferred font and click Default, then click OK

In Atlantis (I'm using 5.0.0.15) it seems like there isn't an option to select a particular Font Style that comes with the font. My preferred font is Palatino LT, with the Roman font style. I noticed that in Dark Mode if I press F9 to go to full screen, and then press F9 again to return to windowed mode, the Title Bar loses its Dark Mode color.

Thanks! If you're making Dark Mode theme tweaks, I would also point out darkening the background behind the document windows. I find it to be too bright when working at night. Perhaps it could be the same color as the windowed document background?

I'm trying to create an ePub from a Word document that I created. If I output the ePub file from Atlantis, and load it on to my Sony PRS-505, I get the error: "Page Error!" if I try to open the book. It also shows on the main screen for the ePub that the last page is "1" and not something like "2700 ...

I find that for text a font size of 1.1 em looks best on my ereader. Is there any way to specify that in Atlantis, instead of selecting the word processor style font sizes (10, 11, 12, etc.)?

I'm using Atlantis 1.6.5.2 beta b1 in Windows 7 x64, and I noticed that when you use Windows Flip 3D (alt + windows key), Atlantis disappears and is not one of the windows/programs you can move to. Regular windows flip (Alt + tab) works fine though.
