Andre, clicking on the link to your blog, I got an Error 404.

I fear our more technical friends may have neglected to mention the backup of backups, which is whisky. Scottish (just between us Europeans, American whisky is not so good!), single malt: Glenmorangie (for sweetness) or Langavulin (for ...

Many applications do store user-specific files (not only documents) under the "My Documents" folder. I do not understand how a new "Atlantis" folder under the "My Documents" folder could be a problem.

Indeed they do, Admin. For users whose primary interest is in music and videos this may not be a ...

Your Docs in My Docs

Thank you for the new beta, developers. It's good to see Atlantis still going strong, and the 'close' buttons on the document bar are a nice touch.

I see the advantage of storing user-specific files in the user-specific directory. But 'My Documents' is the folder where I tend to keep my documents ...

I like to use a spreadsheet style for my characters and all the places, etc., they visit and run amuk and such.
Excel just doesn't cut it for me.
Can I do character studies with Atlantis or am I back to exercise books?

For keeping track of novel characters etc you might find a notes ...

I'd say it's a matter of horses for courses, Quick. MS-Word and OpenOffice are both office software, perhaps very good for businesses needing to compile graphics-rich brochures, import sales figures from their spreadsheets, and mailmerge the results to their databases. But I found MS-Word completely ...

Shortcuts in Context Menus

Hi

Would it be possible to add shortcut keys to common context menu entries? I find 'Add current word to dictionary' especially useful.

Minor Feature Request

I'm wondering if it would be possible to add a toolbar icon toggling widow/orphan control? Other controls for line and page breaks are accessible from the toolbar, except this one.

Many thanks

You might not need OpenOffice or Word in any case, domynoe. Softmaker Office contains workmanlike software, and the outdated 2006 version is free at <http://www.softmakeroffice.com/>. The WP is quick to start, keeps track of page numbers and cross-references over book-length manuscripts, and allows ...

Foreign words appear in italics --

-- and a word processor that offered to exclude italicised words from spellcheck would make users wonder why no programmer had ever noticed this before. Atlantis ddyry cychwyn (or if you don't speak Welsh, Atlantis leads the way)!

This would be a useful feature. Peer-reviewed journals tend to expect contributors to submit revised drafts using comments and tracked changes. Academic publishers also tend to expect writers to compile their own indexes... these features would make Atlantis very desirable to writers and scholars ...

I can't reproduce the accident either, admin. By restoring backup in response to the accident I placed 1.6.4.2 back on my machine, but believe I have been running the latest version (I commented on my experiments with the sentence length tool to this forum), and have just reinstalled it. Therefore I ...

At the time my menus became corrupt, I'm certain I was running Atlantis 1.6.4.3, though I may have been running a much earlier version when I started modifying Atlantis hotkeys and menus. These modifications normally last from session to session; I couldn't achieve such modifications if they didn't.
